Home Based Remedies and Cures for Pleurisy or Pleuritis

Introduction:

Pleurisy is the inflammation in the pleura which is a membrane that acts as a covering for the lungs and it is present inside the lungs. The disease can be of acute, chronic and sever type. The pain in this disease can occur to one or both sides of the chest. The disease is found more common in children, second after pneumonia. Pleurisy generally occurs because of the presence of some ailments in the body. So Pleurisy tends to occur more likely in the people suffering from other diseases caused by these ailments. Pleurisy is an internal problem. So it is not a contagious disease or in other words the disease is not transferable. It cannot be spread from one person to another. Pleurisy is an internal problem so you cannot do much to prevent the disorder.

Home Remedies and Cures:

There are some home based remedies and cures that can play a very important role in the prevention and treatment of the disease. A few among these are:

Water: The person suffering from pleurisy must drink more water. He needs to drink 5 to 6 glasses of water in a day and even more would be advantageous.

Hot Chest Packs: These are helpful in the Pleurisy disorder to reduce the pain. These must be applied gently on the chest three to four times in a day.

Heating Pad: Heating pads of cotton are helpful in reducing the pain that occurs during pleurisy. You need to heat the chest three to four times in a day for approximately half an hour.

Milk: Milk diet is very important in getting relief in this disorder. You need to increase the quantity of milk day after day. But it should not exceed four liters.

Water Bath : A neutral immersion bath for 1 hour at 100 degree Fahrenheit is found effective in attaining relief in this disorder. Sunbath, dry fiction and fresh air bath are also beneficial in this disorder.

Breathing Technique: Always use proper breathing techniques to avoid Pleurisy. Do not breathe very deep to avoid Pleurisy. Always sleep with that side at which pain is less.
