Here are some of the common home remedies: Sodabicarb (NaHCO3) - Wet a pinch of NaHCO3 (Sodabicarb) with a few drops of water and apply over the face. Remove within a few minutes. Apply 2-3 times a day Mullein and SkullCap - Take mullein and skullcap in capsule form for swelling and to aid in the healing process. Garlic and GoldenSeal - Take garlic and goldenseal in capsule form to combat infection and to fortify the body's defenses. Ginger Powder and Water - Ginger is another good remedy for the treatment of mumps. Take some dry ginger and make its paste with water. Now this paste can be applied on the swollen parts of your body. As the paste dries, the swelling will be reduced and the pain will also subside. Apply Some Warmth - Applying localized heat on the swollen salivary glands of the patient will give him relief. A warm heating pad or even a warm cloth can be used for the purpose. Peepal Leaves - Peepal Leaves should be smeared with ghee and warmed over a fire. Now they can be bandaged over the inflamed part of the patient. This will help him give good results. Indian Aloe - Indian aloe is a well known herb for the treatment of many disease in which there is inflammation or pain in a body part. Take a leaf of indian aloe and peel it from one side, warm and then sprinkle on it a little turmeric (haldi) and the extract of Indian barbery (rasaut), and then bandage it over the swelling.
