Influenza Home Remedies

Replenish lost fluids. In influenza, kids generally lose a lot of fluid with a fever, and sometimes more if there is vomiting. So, if a child is suffering from influenza, he must be given lots and lots of fluids in the form of water and juice.

An another drink such as a hot lemonade taken with honey may give a soothing effect to your throat.

Give something to EAT - Your child won't have much of an appetite, but it is important to keep his blood sugar level up so that he'll have less tiredness, vomiting, headache and fussiness, thereby curing influenza.

Soothe the sore throat. Take a cup of warm water and dissolve 1/2 a teaspoon of salt in it. Now, give this salt water to your child to gargle with. This will also help him to sooth the throat.

Bed Rest - The child must be given lot of bed rest.

Vitamin C - Take Vitamin C to boost immune system and increase the number of white blood cells.

Zinc - Take Zinc lozenges, it boosts the immune system as soon the symptoms develop.

Garlic - Take Garlic capsules to decrease de growth of the virus.
Make a tea mixing:

1 tsp. bayberry bark.
1 tsp. grated ginger root.
½ tsp. cayenne powder.
1 cup of boiling water.
Let it sit for 20 minutes.

Ginger - Ginger is very good for curing nausea. Preliminary studies indicate that it may also be safe and effective for nausea during pregnancy when used in limited doses for short periods of time.

Keep the patient in a clean and airy place. Have the room incensed to drive out the germs from the atmosphere.

Make the patient eat only easily digestible food like moong dal, or sago kheer. Don't let him take anything cold. Avoid all those things that generate phlegm in the body.

Basil Leaves: Take 10 gm's of basil leaves, 6gms of cloves and add salt as per the taste. Now boil all of this in about 250 ml of water. When the quantity of water is reduced to half, ask the patient to drink it at every four hour interval. This will help to cure influenza fast.

Tulsi Leaves - Take about 10 gm's of tulsi leaves and 250 ml of water. Boil them together till water is halved. Now add in the remaining water rock salt as per the taste. No sooner did you start to sweat that the effect of flu shall be removed with the sweat and you shall be alright. Alternatively drink decoction of tulsi leaves, black pepper in batasha for still quicker relief.
