Defective Vision - Introduction

Defective Vision Menu

Definition:

Defective vision refers to the inability to see objects clearly. This can be night blindness, inability to see far off objects (short sightedness) or inability to see close objects (long sightedness).

One of the main category of defective vision is color blindness. It is a visual defect resulting in the inability to distinguish colors. Color blindness is usually an inherited sex-linked characteristic. Most of those suffering with defective color vision are only partially color-blind to red and green, i.e., they have a limited ability to distinguish reddish and greenish shades.

Defective vision is nothing but a condition in which the visual images come to focus in front of the retina of the eye because of defects in the refractive media of the eye or of abnormal length of the eyeball resulting especially in defective vision of distant objects.
