Most of the people can suffer from dark circles in their life. It is not a disorder but a temporary skin problem. Dark circles are found mainly under eye region. These are present in the form of rings. The main cause of dark circle is the thinning of skin under eyes.

Heredity :

According to researchers heredity is one of the main causes of dark circles under eyes. If some one is suffering from dark circle problems then there are more chances that his near relatives will suffer from this disorder.

Insomnia and Fatigue :

Improper sleeping habits, fatigue or tiredness can also cause dark circles.

Pregnancy :

In women pregnancy can cause the paleness of skin due to which blood vessels appears to be more prominent in the form of dark circles.

Bone Structure :

The structure of facial bones is also a big cause of dark circles. Eyes set deep in the skull bones may develop an arc shadow under them.

Sunlight Exposure :
Sunlight exposure can cause tanning by increasing the pigmentation level. The same thing is applicable for eyes. When eyes are overexposed towards sun then it can cause dark spots under eyes known as dark circles.

Medications :
Drugs that are responsible for dilating the blood vessels can cause dark circles because dilated blood vessels allows the passage of more blood through them due to which they tends to look dark.

Nutrition:

Balanced diet is mandatory for healthy skin. If your diet lacks all the essential micronutrients then it can cause paleness of skin due to which skin under the eyes gets thin and tends to look dark.

Hormonal Imbalance :

Hormonal imbalance that occurs inside the body because of pregnancy, menopause and menstruation cycle can lead to discoloration of the skin due to which it appears to be dark.

Aging :

Due to the advancement in age, skin cells and tissues becomes weak due to which wrinkle formation takes place. These appear in the shape of dark circles under the eyes.
