Definition:

Coronary heart disease is generally characterized by narrowing of the small blood vessels that supply blood and oxygen to the heart. Coronary disease usually results from the high amount of fat accumulating and other blood components in the walls of the arteries.

Coronary heart disease (CHD), also called coronary artery disease (CAD). This disease is one of the most common cause of sudden death. This is a disease of the heart and the coronary arteries that is usually characterized by atherosclerotic arterial deposits that block blood flow to the heart, causing myocardial infarction.

The coronary arteries arise from the aorta adjacent to the heart and supply the heart muscle with blood that is rich in oxygen.
