Cataract - What is Cataract
Definition :Cataract is a disease which causes the lens or its capsule to become opaque. It can result in partially or severely decreased vision, but it can be easily correct by use of an implant. A congenital cataract involves clouding of the lens of the eye that is present at birth. A cataracts grow very slowly and may not impede vision early on. After a number of years vision will likely be affected. When the cataract has become dense the patient and ophthalmologist will discuss the appropriate time to remove it. Surgery is the only treatment. Cataracts are seen most commonly in the elder people. However, children may be born with clouded lenses.
