Explanation

It is an inflammation of the bronchi that is the air passages which lie beyond the windpipe and has mucus glands in its wall.

Main cause of the bronchitis is bacteria or viruses, and is characterised by muco-purulent sputum, coughing, narrowing of the bronchi due to spasmodic contraction. When the disease reaches its chronic stage, the patient coughs up enormous amount of cough secretd by enlarged bronchal mucus glands. In bronchospasm, it become difficult to ge relief even with broncho-dialotors. The patient has to exert a lot when air (fresh) fails to reach the lungs to ease expectoration. In this situation the patient's body turns blue or cyanotic, thread of respiration gets impeded.

Precautions

Banana, guava, potato, rice, curd, sour substance must be avoided.
Take care not to strain your frail body by vigorous physical activity and exercises.
Avoid exposure to cold and damp weather. Avoid also all the cold beverages.
If the patient is a child, take extra care lest the malady assumes serious and life threatening postures.
