Appendicitis
DefinitionAppendicitis is disease which is generally characterized by inflammation of the appendix (a worm-shaped pouch near the beginning of the large intestine). Appendicitis is a medical emergency. and if left untreated, the appendix may rupture and cause a potentially fatal infection. Appendicitis is one of the most common abdominal emergency among children and young adults. The appendicitis occurs mostly among the males of ages ranging from ten to fourteen and among females of ages ranging from fifteen to nineteen. Patients with appendicitis often have pain in the right lower abdomen. Appendicitis usually involves infection of the appendix by bacteria that invade it and infect the wall of the appendix. Appendicitis can progress to produce an abscess and even peritonitis.
